Students2Work Summer 2025 takes place June 2 – July 8. Companies will host an intern for 6 weeks at a minimum of 30 hours per week. The business may decide to allow the intern to continue working beyond the initial 6 weeks if the intern is available.

Students and parents are encouraged to consider options that will provide daily and consistent student transportation to their work for the length of the internship.  However, transportation can be provided where available to and from work locations and program-related events by Augusta Public Transit.

The internship program is designed to provide students with education and experience that will bridge the gap between their classroom learning and intended career. It will afford students the opportunity to connect with potential employers, meet positive role models, gain soft skills training, literacy devel­opment, and financial management as well as provide career-path guidance. In addition, this initiative supports the mission of RCSS.

Applicants must be age 16 by June 2, 2025, enrolled in Richmond County schools, in good academic standing, and on track to graduate

Information will be available in the counseling department at Richmond County High Schools, and  you can also visit www.students2work.org to learn more.

Guidance counselors, teachers, business representatives and job-skills coaches will utilize a scoring rubric to select students once they complete the application process.

Students will be contacted via email with instructions on next steps. They are required to attend a mandatory orientation meeting scheduled in May 2025.

Yes, there will be a 3-day MANDATORY paid training session for the students to learn employ­ability and soft skills that will include lessons on Attendance/Punctuality, Financial Literacy, Teamwork and Conflict Resolution.  Training will be hosted by local business leaders and the RCSS CTAE Department. The training is currently scheduled for May 28 – May 30, 2025.

Attend the  Business/Student Meet & Greet Luncheon on Friday, May 30, 2025.

As a host employer for Students2Work Summer 2025, your organization would provide a 6-week paid internship of 30 hours per week at $13 per hour. That’s a total investment of approximately $2,340 (plus taxes) for the future of your business and the future of our region’s workforce. Participating students are carefully selected, rising juniors and seniors from the Richmond County School System who are academically successful and highly motivated to advance their career paths.

Yes. They are expected to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, but schedules may vary based on business needs. Some interns can expect to work on weekends.

Get to know your intern so you can be creative! Interns can do projects such as: update the company’s web site, clean up a database, create support materials/internal communications, or propose solutions for a mid-level problem that no one has had time to address.
